Dark Eldar Tactics

The evil twins of the Eldar. This race specialise in pain and torture. In this chapter I will be looking at the Dark Eldar army in Warhammer 40,000. I will be explaining what makes them special and offering hints and cheats.

Imperial Eagle

General Strategy - Back to top

There are three major ways to play Dark Eldar: Assault, Firepower, and Assault after firepower. The Dark Eldar excel in all aspects if used right.

Grotesques
Not much use with these except when using them with a Haemonculus they make great bodyguards.

Mandrakes
Personally the hidden setup rule is the only thing making them any good. Considering the fact that this makes them slower (no fleet of foot allowed while hidden) they are useless. Take an extra squad of wyches in a raider.

Wyches
Do's: Mount in Raider, lead with succubus, give wych weapons, assault anything asap.

Don't's: Put them in the line of fire, use them against Genestealers (this is only acceptable if you actually want to lose an assault), use for firepower.

Warp Beast Pack
Definitely take a squad if you know they will be able to get into hand to hand. Fleet of foot, charging 12" and 3 attacks each without charging and strength 4, they bring down most anything with sheer numbers of attacks.

Scourges
Extremely versatile in their usefulness. Can be suited to beat any type of army. I personally prefer a squad of five with splinter cannons on four and one sybarite to defend in assaults. (Yes he does have that power on his own if equipped right)
